Rectors reflection: Bishops and Bobs

The responsibilities of the bishop are manifold: symbol of unity, representative of the Diocese to the larger Province and Communion, representative of the Diocese to the local communities, principal priest of the Diocese, including being a shepherd to the priests, chief intercessor for the parishes, chief teacher, administrator of the diocesan resources, to name just a few. Through all of these and other tasks, the Bishop must set and execute a mission that he/she believes will unite the parishes and facilitate their spread of the Gospel. We owe Bishop Bob a great debt of gratitude for the ways in which he has faithfully and diligently discharged the duties of his office. But beyond this, we thank him for doing so with such a generosity of spirit. We also owe his wife Liz so much for supporting him, giving him to us and for joining him with equal diligence and generosity in his ministry. Please make sure to thank them both!
