Gin bottle bonus!

26/11/2022 by David Rose

A wee update on all the gin bottles we collected early this year. We had intended to use these to make table lamps, but it proved to be very expensive – even if you used do-it-yourself kits. During a trip to the Country Living Christmas Fare in Glasgow I spotted a company selling nice gifts made from gin bottles.

Once back home we contacted the Aberdeen-based company called Tipsy House and sent a few photographs of the many gin and whisky bottles we’d collected. The owner, Stuart, immediately replied that they would like to give a donation for the bottles. Tipsy House gave us £100 for 48 bottles! You can discover more about the sort of gifts they produce here https://tipsyhouse.co.uk/

Cheers to everyone that saved their valuable bottles and many thanks to the team at Tipsy House for their very generous donation!

Jacket Potato

20/10/2022 by David Rose

“Jacket Potato” is an appeal to everyone to have a look through your unused coats and jackets, gloves, and scarves, and consider donating them to us here at St Mary’s. The thinking behind this venture is to ensure that as winter months fast approach, we here at St Mary’s can ‘do our bit’ to help those who might otherwise go cold.

We will be accepting coats and jackets, as well as, scarves, hats and gloves, every Wednesday and Saturday from 12 noon to 2pm throughout November.

The clothing will then be available for anyone to choose (one coat per person) on Saturday 3rd December (from 10am to 3pm). On the same day there will be jacket potatoes and hot drinks available for free to all that visit us.

“Whoever has two coats, let him give to him who has not, and whoever has food should do likewise.” (Luke 3:11)
