A very warm welcome to all
Psalm 107: “Give Thanks to God for His Lovingkindness.”
Fifth Sunday After Pentecost
Readings: Job 38: 1-11; 2 Corinthians 6: 1-13
Gospel: Mark 4: 35-41
In our Gospel today
You will notice that one of the hymns I have chosen for this Sunday is ‘Will Your Anchor Hold’. It not only fits well with the theme of our gospel reading but is also known as the Boys’ Brigade hymn. I was a BB member for many years. In May of this year, I attended the funeral of the captain of the company I was a member of. I’m telling you this because he played such an important part in my life as I was growing up. He, and others, made me the person I am today. In a sense, he was an anchor in my life. I’d like you to take a moment to think of who the anchors are in your life, who has played a part in making you who you are. Offer a prayer for them and thank God for bringing them into your life.

Thursdays @ 7
Would you like to meet mid-week for bible-study, prayer, and encouragement? Thursdays @ 7 will be held in the Crypt. This Thursday is the final week of this series. We plan to re-start on 18th July. You’d be very welcome wherever you feel you are in your faith journey. Bring a friend if you wish. We’ll aim to be an hour – longer if you stay for refreshments.
Rectory garden tidy up (Saturday 15th June)
Thank you very much to all those that helped with the tidy up of the back garden at the Rectory on Saturday 15th June. The Vestry would now like to organise a rota to keep the back lawn under control! Please see the sign-up sheet at the back of church for those that are able to give the lawn a cut during the summer and autumn months. Thank you!
Soap Sunday 30th June.
Wondering what Soap Sunday is? Well, it’s a day when we bring soap, shampoo and shower-gels to church so we can donate to a local charitable organisation that helps less fortunate folk. Please consider donating some of the items mentioned above on Sunday 30th June or beforehand.
Church Garden Tidy Up (Saturday 6th July)
Many in the congregation will have noticed the surprising number of weeds of all varieties that have sprung up around the church grounds in recent weeks. The Vestry would like to organise a small group of volunteers to help tidy up the area around the south side of the church up to the Choir Vestry door. The first weeding session is scheduled for Saturday 6th July from 10am to 12 noon. Please sign-up on the sheet at the back of church, if you are able to help. Thank you!
Bake Sale Sunday 7th July
The Fundraising and Social Events Team wanted to give you plenty of notice for our Bake Sale planned for Sunday 7th July. For those good bakers in the congregation please dust off your best recipes and get ready to present your bakes for sale. Please sign up on the sheet at the back of church so we can gauge how many scones and Victoria sponges might be available for sale. Thank you!
