Newsletter – Sunday 4th April 2021

02/04/2021 by David Rose

Easter Sunday

St Mary’s and St Andrew’s Worshipping Together

A very warm welcome to all

Readings:
Isaiah 25: 6-9; Psalm 118: 1-2, 14-24; Acts 10: 34-43; Gospel: John 20: 1-18

HE IS RISEN! HE IS RISEN INDEED!!

HE IS RISEN! HE IS RISEN INDEED!! It makes me so happy to write and say these words. Cast your mind back to last Easter, when, even though we were in the first lockdown, we said them, we thought about them and we experienced them. This year, we will be able to gather in Church, albeit in limited numbers, to share them. This is the pinnacle of our Christian Faith and I am absolutely delighted to help you celebrate it.

Photograph Competition

St Mary’s Pro-Cathedral, Carden Place, Aberdeen, is holding a Photograph Competition as part of our on-going fund-raising initiatives. The competition will run from today (Easter Sunday the 4th of April), until Trinity Sunday the 30th of May inclusive. We are asking that anyone who wants to enter should submit their photograph(s) to Mr David Rose via the St Mary’s email address at stmaryscardenplace@gmail.com  More details regarding this can be found on our website at www.stmaryscardenplace.org.uk in the news and notices section.

Easter Egg Appeal

In case you don’t already know, the grand total for our Easter Egg appeal was 141. This is quite simply amazing, and more than we collected last year. I am, as always, deeply moved at the generosity shown by everyone who donated. I would also like to thank the Rector’s Warden, Mr David Rose who has collected all of the eggs and taken them to the Barnardo’s Children’s Society here in Aberdeen who will distribute them amongst those who would not normally receive such little treats that most of us take for granted.

Volunteer for Readers/Intercessions Rota

As I mentioned last week, I am looking for a volunteer to take on the task of preparing our Readers/Intercessions rota as we move forward again into regular services. If you are interested in volunteering for this role, please let me know.

Volunteer for People’s Warden

I continue to look for a volunteer to take on the role of People’s Warden here at St Mary’s. Should anyone be interested please make an approach.
