A short Christmas message from the Rectory

21/12/2021 by Reverend Canon Terry Taggart

Dear all,

In addition to what I have reported in this year’s Christmas Magazine, I just wanted to emphasise my best wishes to everyone associated with St Mary’s Pro-Cathedral.

After another incredibly challenging year we are all still so excited to remain with some degree of Christmas cheer.

We should look back with no small amount of satisfaction at our accomplishments throughout the year.

We have made the building available, as best as we could, for the large variety of worship services that fill our liturgical calendar, both in church and online. We have had choristers (thank you to Matthew), and we have had exceedingly good music.

We have collected for charity (Harvest and Christmas) with fantastic responses all round, and we have had a very good Christmas Raffle.

On a more sombre note, we have had funerals and have said farewell to the loved ones who are better known to many of you who have been here longer than I have.

We have had a baptism and we have welcomed some new members to our congregation, whilst at the same time we have said farewell to others.

Our Country continues to be in the grip of the Covid Virus, and we must remain ever vigilant and adhere as best as we can to the restrictions put in place. It is not easy, and it can be difficult to feel positive about the immediate future. However, we must all strive to be resilient, and I have every confidence that we will see it through together.

Therefore, Sam and I would like to wish each and every one of you a peaceful and healthy Christmas. However, you choose to celebrate it, just remember how humble the birth of Christ was should you need a template.

Best wishes to everyone and blessings always,

Canon Terry and Sam Taggart
