On Sunday the 15th of August we will observe the feast day of St Mary the Virgin. This is also the day that we will celebrate our own Patronal Festival here at St Mary’s Pro-Cathedral, Carden Place, Aberdeen.
We have been promoting this occasion in our weekly newsletters, not only as an important day in our liturgical calendar, but also as an opportunity to encourage everyone, to consider making a financial gift towards the ongoing maintenance of our iconic and beautiful ‘Tartan Kirkie’.
Our Vestry have been working hard towards keeping the momentum going with respect to the phased work that was delayed because of the pandemic, and we would like to see this work continue to its conclusion.
I am sure you are all aware of the many applications we have completed regarding grant funding and to date we have had a very good success rate. However, we need to ensure that we keep on top of what we as a Church and Congregation have started, and by this, I mean that by making a commitment to see the phased work completed, we can hopefully see less need for major and expensive maintenance in the future.
Therefore, as your Rector, and on behalf of St Mary’s Vestry Committee, I reinforce this appeal outlined above and I hope that you will give it your serious consideration.
Blessings Always
Canon Terry
