The Diocesan Lambeth Evensong held at St Marys Pro-Cathedral on 24th July was a wonderful celebration of music and colour. Our beautiful building, lovingly prepared inside and out, shone like the gem that it is. We are so grateful for all who worked to make this possible.
The congregation was gathered from many different churches round about. We were joined by our Primus, Rt Revd Mark Strange and the five American Bishops who were in our diocese ahead of the Lambeth Conference (a once every 10 years gathering in Canterbury of all the bishops in the worldwide Anglican Communion). They were the Bishops of Alabama, Connecticut (Assistant), Georgia, Michigan and Missouri.
Our own Bishop Anne of Aberdeen and Orkney preached asking us to pray that the bishops of the Scottish Episcopal Church and those we have been showing hospitality to would have wisdom as they represented us and grace as they meet with Bishops from other parts of the worldwide Anglican Communion.
