A very warm welcome to all
Fifth Sunday of Easter
Readings: Acts 7: 55-60; 1 Peter 2: 2-10
Gospel: John 14: 1-14
In our Bible readings today
The risen Lord Jesus alone is “the way, and the truth, and the life,” and we come “to the Father” through Him. God is thus “glorified in the Son,” and those who believe in Him will do the works of Christ because He goes to the Father for us (John 14:12–14). In Acts we hear of the martyrdom of Stephen, a man full of faith and the Holy Spirit, doing great wonder among the people. When put to death he looked to heaven and saw the glory of God and Jesus on the right hand of God and prayed for those persecuting him. In 1 Peter we are called to follow the example of Jesus Christ by faith, reminded that we God’s chosen ones, precious in God’s sight and called to be living stones. We are God’s own people, called in love to follow and respond to God’s mercy.
Prayers for Ukraine
As we move in to the fifteenth month of the Ukraine War, please continue to offer prayers for our brothers and sister caught up in this tragic struggle.
Photograph Competition 2023
Our Photograph Competition for 2023 has been launched and will be our third such competition and will run until 30th September. As previously the subject of your photographs is entirely up to you. Anything really that depicts life at any season of the year. We would like each photograph to come with a caption which again can be whatever you think is appropriate, perhaps some details about the photograph, or it could even be the line from a hymn. Competition rules can be found on our website here: https://stmaryscardenplace.org.uk/notices/photograph-competition-2023/
Cheese & Wine with Silent Auction
Our next big fundraising and social event will be the Cheese and Wine with Silent Auction evening, which is now scheduled for Friday 16th June at 7:30pm. Please be sure to let your friends know about it. Also, please think about any nice quality items which you may like to donate for the Silent Auction. For this event we’ve chosen to request suitable donations rather than set a ticket price. Tickets are now available from anyone in the Fundraising Team.
